Last month during SMX West, Illyes also finished comments about a “current version” of a mobile initial index, definition that Google is still operative on and tweaking how a mobile initial indexing change will indeed be done. And we know Google doesn’t wish to launch mobile initial unless they see no detriment in peculiarity with a change – what Illyes referred to as quality neutral.
So far, we haven’t seen a lot of opposing information about mobile initial indexing, nonetheless we have seen both Gary Illyes and John Mueller state that certain aspects of mobile initial – quite around links – haven’t been worked out yet. Page speed is one instance however, as Illyes recently pronounced it page speed would be a factor possibly during launch or shortly after, since before Google had pronounced it wouldn’t.
Google has pronounced that they will explain a change when they do their central blog post on it, that is reliable by Illyes here.
We still don’t have a launch date for when mobile initial indexing go live, though Illyes pronounced he doesn’t consider it will be this year.
